Meet Some Individuals
There's a lot of individual people in any family tree. Here's a roadmap!
The Knightons
John Knighton - Evidence suggests that the other Knighton head-of-family in Placerville is David J. Knighton's father.
Eliza Knighton - John's wife grew some award-winning produce and raised another Knighton family alongside possible (step?) son David.
David J. Knighton - Politician, local celebrity, and a miner till the end of his days, DJ never gave up looking for his Mother Lode.
Addie Easely Knighton - Orphaned by age 10, David's wife joined the California gold rush and was still alive as late as 1930.
HWA Worthen - Addie's uncle was a true Gold Rush pioneer and one of the founding figures of Hangtown, CA.
Zeb Ward - Addie's other uncle made history too, but no one's proud of him: Zeb's famous for being plain old mean!
Henry Worthen Knighton - David J's son was a jack-of-all-trades who got himself into trouble all over California before his death in 1943.
Jessie Sperry Knighton - HW Knighton's wife lived a life that spanned eras – from the horse-and-buggy days of the late 19th century to cars, TV and rock music in the mid-1960s!
Frank Ray Knighton - The next Knighton was another jack-of-all trades who, unlike his dad, spent most of his life in just one town: Seal Beach, CA.
Alberta Morrison Knighton - Unfortunately we know very little about Frank's wife Alberta.
George Worthen Sperry Knighton - Frank's brother was Seal Beach's first Fire Chief and also served as electrical engineer on one of California's very first wind power installations --- in 1926!
